I just returned home from a run, and I have an answer to the question in the my title. I decided to grab my IPOD on the way out the door, and utilize the "stopwatch" to see how fast I could run a 3 miler. All I can say is... it just wasn't meant to be. Not only did I accidentally push the pause button instead of shuffling to the next song, in doing so; poor Wenzyl got tangled up in her leash and let me know with a whimper because I wasn't paying attention! Not only was I NOT paying attention to my dog who was becoming anoxic due to my inability to do two things at once, I was missing so many beautiful things around me! The evening was cool, but the sunset kept me warm, neighbors were out and about walking their dogs, and playing with their children, and here is me... focusing on my breathing, trying to be all serious about my time, which I truly don't even care about? What am I doing? I think Wenzyl was asking me this same question, especially when she became tangled for the second time. This time I just laughed, and decided that this was God giving me the answer to my question above. It's just not me, (Keeping my time and caring about it) and I've decided that the "time"; (like money when working), is just an added benefit to something I enjoy. If my "time" ends up being "good" or "bad" in the eyes of the beholder, well so be it. I on the other hand am staying away from the "stopwatch" in hopes to save myself from having to perform CPR on my poor dog!
to inspire those that are searching, I believe through running all things can happen.
They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31

To time or not to time, that is the question?

I whole heartedly agree! Timing things whether running or living life just ruins the reason for it. Keeping "time" on life sometimes as you say, interferes with all the good things going on around you! I have to remind myself of that in everyday life as well. Stop, enjoy the moment and take advantage of the moments my kids do want to talk, my patient needs a little extra comfort or a friend needs to share a burden. Thanks for reminding me of that Cory!
