I love sunshine, especially on a cool winter day. It was 27 degrees yesterday afternoon, and it felt like 35-40. It was great to have Wenzyl by my side again. All I have to say is, "You wanna go for a run?" This makes her ears perk up, and she starts wagging her tail. I create a shadow by doing this, during my prep to get out the door I usually trip over her numerous times. As I start to tie my shoes she always finds time to come in for a kiss or two, which makes me giggle, which in turn makes her give me more kisses. It's quite adorable I must say.
We decided to run to our office to visit Zack. When we ran through the door, Zack looked at us and said, "You're crazy, you ran here?" I found this to be funny. It was only 1.6 miles to the office; granted I had to run back, and ran a little extra... but I felt like this was nothing. Almost too short to even be called a run! Maybe I am crazy? When did I hit that point, to not consider a 3,4,5 miler a run? This I will ponder.
I de-layered my under armour and left my gloves with him, being I was so warm outside. Funny how Minnesotans consider 27 degrees warm!
Running in town is distracting, kind of like when you get into the city of Duluth during the Marathon. There's a lot of commotion, people, and noises to pay attention to. This is convenient as it pushes you through to the end. I do have to say, as I've said before, I'm missing the woods and trail.
Being able to run in the quiet, with no other noises but my breathing allows for a meditative state. Unfortunately; when running in town, this is taken away from me. I have to start focusing on the positive aspects of running in town. Maybe I will inspire someone to get out for a run today, or for someone to take their dog outside for a nice walk. It's self satisfying running by people as they drive their cars. It's a powerful thing to be able to run to your destination.
