They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31

Lucky number 7

Today Wenzyl and I ran 7 miles.  The temperature was a balmy 42 degrees, which was amazing.

I will admit, having light at 7:30pm makes me very happy!  Spring is popping its head up everywhere.  Grass patches are emerging, sidewalks are clearing, and the smell of wood and dirt is in the air.  I do find it interesting to see the hidden treasures that have been under the snow for the past 4 months.  Unfortunately, these treasures are ones that should have been thrown in the garbage, but none the less... Wenzyl finds them to be of excitement.  Maybe one of these days I can teach her to pick up garbage and carry a garbage sack on her back?  Kill two birds with one stone!

I started off my run pretty slow today, Wenzyl was pulling on her leash;  probably because she was excited to get to the trail; or so she thought.  I left my Ipod at home today, partly because it had a dead battery, but also because I wanted to get in a long run without it.  It's a mind game really; one that can at times be defeating, but if you stick with it, all of your negative thoughts are taken away. Before you know it you put in 7 miles.

This season, I've realized that I'm missing a running partner.  Granted, I have Wenzyl, and I love running with her, but she doesn't talk back.  Maybe that's not such a bad thing.  I wish Abe lived closer, that way we could get some runs in together.  My dear friend Carey is in Seattle training for a full marathon out there, the only running connection we have is writing our mileage on each others wall. Thank goodness for Facebook! Tara, didn't get in to the half this year... although we do plan on getting some longer runs, later in the season.  I guess I just feel like I don't have anything to look forward to?  I've been spoiled the past 4 years, having running partners by my side.  This year is different; I guess I should just embrace that.  I do enjoy my alone time, while running.  It allows me to meditate and talk to God, pray about things that are on my heart, let loose and just think, or not think.  On the flip side it's nice to have someone to talk to as well.  So if you're reading this and would like to run, let me know!

My husband Zack mentioned to me that he may be interested in getting into running again.  I lit up with excitement.  I would love to be able to run with him, granted his stride is about 4 of mine being he's so tall, but just knowing that he's running while I'm running would be amazing!  I'm holding him to it.  I asked if he'd like to join me this afternoon, and he found other things to do instead, which is fine.  I'm not going to push the issue, because I don't want to scare him away.  I guess we'll see, time will tell!  I have about 4 long runs scheduled with Abe, the other long runs I will need a biker, luckily my hubby committed to this task.

I'm looking forward to my next long run!
